Music ~ Brief summary of the groups. Full details can be found by clicking the group name.
Music Making is for those who like, or would like, to play music together. We currently have a good mix of instruments including keyboard, guitar, flute, clarinet, melodica, ukulele, recorder, mouth organ and cello. Styles of music are wide ranging but mostly popular music, jazz and folk from various parts of the world. All instruments and standards are welcome.
Week 1, Friday 2.00 – 4.00pm

The Ukulele Band is a group for people who already have some experience of playing the ukulele. Our emphasis is on playing a variety of music including rock, pop, folk, jazz etc. which members are free to suggest if they wish, gradually building our knowledge of chords, strumming patterns, bits of solo work and some very basic music theory, but mainly we aim to have fun. All music is available for printing on our website.

The Ukulele is a fun and very versatile instrument that is not too difficult to learn. This course is designed for beginners. You will need a music stand, and be able to download songs from our website. Oh, yes, and a ukulele!

The music and dances are very varied, not just country music. New dances are also regularly introduced to keep our brains active as well as our feet. Our group has a mixed range of line dance skills, from beginner level to the more experienced. Newcomers are given extra help to learn the steps, especially in the September to December term.

The group will listen to tracks chosen by group members and discuss them whilst also discussing jazz in general.
