French Conversation

We listen to CDs and read magazines in French which are also available to borrow. The standard is variable with many referrals to a dictionary! The class is a most enjoyable way of learning or maintaining one’s French language skills.

Week 1, Wednesday 2.00 – 4.00pm

Venue: Mission Church, Vestry Road, Street

Leader: Jenny Lewis

Improvers’ French

This group is for people with no previous experience of the language who would like to learn to introduce themselves, order a meal/drink, book a room in a hotel or ask for directions etc. We mainly use the BBC course ‘Talk French’. We meet in my house in Wells.

Week 1, Wednesday 2.30 – 4.30pm

Intermediate French

It is for those who have been with the group over the last year or so OR have a little French on which they hope to build.  We meet in my house in Wells.

Latin A

If you were thinking of joining us it would be a good idea if you had done at least a year of Latin at school. We are not rushing and we do also take time to consider geography, aspects of Roman life, and the spelling, usage and derivation of English words from Latin.

Week 1, Wednesday, 2pm – 4pm

Venue: Private Home – Contact Pat for details

Leader: Pat Thompson

Latin Reading Group

This coming term we shall be starting a new reading book and meeting a new set of authors, the first being Cicero. I must issue a word of warning here; if you are a beginner I am afraid this group would not be suitable for you.
