S&G U3A Committee News

The U3A committee are monitoring the Government and head office advice,
and recent announcements have changed little as far as our activities are concerned.

All of our booked venues are still closed, with no indication of when they might reopen.

Social distancing will be with us for some considerable time,
and according to the Chief Medical Officer, possibly until a vaccine or treatment is available.
This has huge implications for our Group activities,
which all take place in venues that are used by other groups besides us.

The Group Leaders meeting planned for June has been cancelled.
Our Enrolment Day, due to be on August 13 in the Town Hall, has also been cancelled.
Our AGM needs to be held before November, and we are exploring how to achieve this.

Details about how members will be able to join the U3A for 2020-2021,
and how to enrol for Groups will be published later.

We want to start our activities as soon as possible,
but the safety and health of our members and their partners is paramount,
and this will guide any decisions we make.

The situation can change in the weeks ahead and therefore we will
monitor the situation and update the website to keep everyone informed of any changes.
